Government Forest Training College, Vaigai Dam

The TNFC was started during 1961 as a ‘Forest Training School’ to train the Foresters and the Forest Guards of Tamilnadu state. It was upgraded as TNFC in 1987. The TNFC campus is situated near Theni district in south Tamilnadu in an area of about 200 ha. with all necessary infrastructure.

The TNFC is now imparting the induction training as well as refresher training to the direct recruit and the promoted Forest Guards of Tamilnadu state. Besides, it also conducts several theme based short duration training courses to the Forest Guards & Forest watchers.

The TNFC is headed by a Additional Director and Dean in the rank of Conservator of Forests and is supported by 5 faculty members in the Forest Rangers rank. TNFC has the capacity to train 120 trainees at a time.
